Been slacking off lately, both with work (should technically be preparing for uni, since my course coordinator sent us a stack of readings to do at around.. hm, Christmas!!), preparing for my sister's wedding, and blog posts. Gotten rid of that fever, so it's back to food business!
From Weeks 5-8, 2011 |
This entry shall be the antithesis to the last post. Unhealthy food galore! Deep fried thick bread with sugar-laden jam.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
That was French toast from "Campbell Restaurant". This place was introduced to me by tt and is quite hidden. Located right at the entrance of China Town, it's on the second level. Much like "Tim Tim House", which is just a little further into China Town on the third level, it's a Hong Kong style cafe, serving set dishes, some with obvious Western influences, but also serving some authentic Hong Kong dishes.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
Price-wise, not as cheap as Tim Tim House, but! not too bad. If you go for afternoon tea, there are some pretty good sets at good prices.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
Since we went at lunch, I ordered a set lunch meal... came with drinks, soup of the day, and a dessert....!!! I would wait till later to rant on about this, but I didn't get my dessert! >=( At least the drink was proper HK style milk tea.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
Oh, I forgot, it came with breadroll too, warm and fluffy on the inside. I love Asian sweet bread.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
tt went for smooth egg drop rice with pork... this is sounding like those really badly translated menu you get, but I can't do any better... if I attempted to pinyin it in Cantonese, it would turn out something like "wad dan fan" (stop snickering, you.)
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
My macaroni with tomato sauce, cheese and sausages! =D
And then we stayed and chatted for so long, we forgot to pester them about the dessert that was meant to come with my set. The good thing about this cafe is that it's not very popular and doesn't really get crowded, so with no one waiting for a table, you won't feel guilty sitting there just a while longer to chat (and avoid the furnace outside). No one will start hassling you out the door by clearing all your dishes quickly too, or giving you the bill as a hint. Bad thing is, NO DESSERT, though I can forgive this incident =)
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
That night, my parents decided to go out for dinner, and where else could we go but to Jane's Kitchen? Someone burn that table! They were snipping parsley on the table right next to ours!! Oh, the horror!
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
Mum's favourite. I think I must have posted at least 5 different versions of this same dish on my blog already. We go to Jane's Kitchen and order this same dish THAT often...
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
Fishie in a blood bath. With pineapples.
From Week 1-4, 2011 |
More tofu. Wait... this was meant to be an unhealthy entry...
It's time for dinner, so I shall leave Little Italy for the next post.
